I help women create beautiful wardrobes for real life. I guide them in making decisions about
what pieces to buy. Pieces that will mix well with what they already own.
New clothing is an investment. Clients often ask me for tips on how to care for their purchases.
I'm a firm believer in taking good care of what I wear. My 'tool box' includes the following products
to ensure that my clothes look great for a long time.
Mesh Laundry Bags-
These are the best! I use them for anything that needs a slightly more gentle washing.
Those pieces that I don't want mashed around and tangled with the rest of the load.
I have no time or patience for hand washing. I only dry cleaner blazers, coats and true
'dry clean only' items.
By tossing more delicate pieces into a zippered mesh bag, I'm able to machine wash items that might otherwise require a trip to the cleaners.
When the load is finished, I take the contents from the bags and hang them to dry on a drying rack.
Two classic laundry room staples-
Spills and stains happen. Enter these two old-school rock stars!
When I first looked at a box of BIZ at the grocery store, I wondered... hasn't this stuff been around since I was a kid? The answer is yes! BIZ first appeared in 1968. It was the first enzyme based,
pre-soak laundry product. It's still around because it works!
Another relic that does the job...
Original blue Dawn (created in 1973) is the only cleaner I use on oil stains. It lifts out olive oil, dressings, butter and grease. It even works on old, oil stains.
(and if you have a little girl who decides to dispense an entire tube of A&D ointment and apply it to her hair at naptime... Dawn will gently wash it right out:-)
An iron and an ironing board-
I love to iron. Always have, always will.
Ironing reminds me of my Nana. She would set up the board and invite me to
"Come watch the story (aka Days of Our Lives) with me while I iron". Fond memories.
Buy an iron with a steaming feature. There will come a time when you need a vertical steamer.
If your iron has this feature, you've got one less thing to store.
A lint roller-
Ahhh, the lint roller! I'm addicted, especially to the tiny little travel sized versions.
I always have one tucked into my suitcase.
Lint, pet fur, fuzz...all of these cling-ons on your clothing keep you from looking sharp. These genius inventions are inexpensive and readily available. And the thrill of seeing all that lint stuck in the tape is enough to keep me rolling!
Shoe Shine supplies-
Like ironing... polishing shoes is a favorite pasttime and happy memory for me.
My dad loves to polish shoes. He taught me how to do it right.
I love the smell and the waxy luster of a just-shined leather shoe.
Even if you don't love doing this task...it makes a huge difference in your overall appearance.
Polished shoes complete the package. Put together from head-to-toe.
Let me know if you have any question...
Thanks for reading. Have a great week.
