Today is the last day of my trip, so this post will be quick. I have lots that I still want to see and do before I head home early tomorrow morning.
Here are the travel tips that stand out for me from this adventure...
1. Whatever you pack, you won't wear it all.
I definitely brought too much clothing with me this time. I should have known better, but I had some pieces that I really wanted to bring. I kinda knew when packing that they might not really work. I should have listened to that voice. My suitcase would have been lighter. I realize that I like a little more wiggle room. Luckily, there wasn't any time to shop:-)
2. When possible, opt for a hotel room with a kitchenette.
Our hotel room has a super 'kitchenette' that is actually a full kitchen. Refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, small stove, sink, coffee maker...fully stocked. It's perfect!
3 'Breakfast Included' is usually a good thing.
This hotel has a wonderful complimentary breakfast. Take-away breakfast sandwiches, fruit, yogurt and granola, cereals, bread, bagels, coffee, juices. Everything can be enjoyed in the dining area or carried back to your room. Needless to say, I have lots of leftover snacks in my refrigerator:-)
4. Use the safe, but check it before checking out!
The safe is great for storing jewelry, money and other valuables. Just be sure to check it as you leave for the last time. I missed this step on a trip to Marseilles and left a camera lens in our safe. I had to call from our train bound for Paris and use my best French to beg for help! Thankfully, the lens was found and returned to me in the States. I learned my lesson.
5. Use the hotel toiletries.
This trip I lugged too many little bottles. I know better...couldn't help myself for some reason. Most decent hotels have shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. Use them. In addition, if you forget something ask at the Front Desk. Most often, they will have what you need.
That's all for today. Off to one last event....
