I know that lumping two days together is probably cheating...but our weekend was so busy with kid activities that my 31 Day Writing Challenge had to take a back seat.
Saturday marked the end of the fall soccer season for my youngest. In his honor, a soccer post.
When we travel as a family, we always need some play time. Trips to European cities are no exception...
it's just a bit more challenging to find a space to run.
Some of my sons' most amazing soccer games took place on recent trips to Europe. These pick-up games reminded me of what's really important...spending time together, letting kids be kids and making the most of what you have available.
My eight year old son asked to buy an inflated soccer ball in Madrid. His favorite team is Real Madrid and favorite player is Cristiano Ronaldo.
My first thought was 'no'.
How would we get it home?
He said we'd let the air out:-)
He bought the ball.
And the jersey. It's probably the best money he's ever spent.
Now every time we travel, a soccer ball makes the trip with us. Or we buy whatever we can find to kick around a field.
We've played soccer in on the beach in Alicante, in Madrid's Parque del Retiro, on a public soccer field in Siena and in a tiny courtyard in Paris. I think my boys would say these are some of the best memories from these trips. I'd have to agree.
This post reminds me to say, "Yes" more often than comes naturally. I can't wait to see our next field.
Thanks for reading. More tomorrow...
